As the school year comes to a close, we want to congratulate the many Blue Ridge Virtual Governor’s School students and staff members who have earned achievements, awards, scholarships, and recognitions this year. We are extremely proud of their hard work, commitment to teaching and learning, contributions, and excellence! A few examples of student and staff accomplishments include:
- Virginia Burleson - Louisa County High School - Received a full scholarship to the University of Pennsylvania.
- Rowan Dell DeRonde - Invited to participate in the Virginia Aerospace Science and Technology Scholars program Summer Academy at NASA
- Chynna Hatton - Received George Mason's University Scholar Scholarship, which includes full tuition, a $1,000 stipend, and admittance to the Honors Program.
- Lauren Haynes - Madison County High School - Received nearly full-tuition scholarship to Drexel University.
- Aubrey Kinser - William Monroe High School - Received the McDermott Scholarship at the University of Texas at Dallas (an estimated $140,000, which includes full tuition, cohort travel, study abroad, etc). Aubrey is also a National Merit Finalist and received a scholarship of $750 yearly for four years.
- Hannah Mawyer - Orange County High School - Attending Summer Residential Governor’s School for Math, Science, and Technology.
- Caleb Snyder - Louisa County High School - Attending Summer Residential Governor's School at Radford this summer.
- Jesse Stowe - Nelson County High School - Attending Summer Residential Governor’s School NASA program.
- Kirsten Dexter - William Monroe High School, Biotechnology Teacher - Greene Education Foundation Teacher of the Year Award recipient ($1,000 and awards ceremony recognition).

We also want to acknowledge our BRVGS Seniors for a stellar job on their independent projects, presentations, internships, and Exposition displays and interactions. Judges and visitors alike were impressed with the quality of the projects, and students’ knowledge of their subject matter.
