BRVGS and Coronavirus

With confirmation of the first COVID-19 cases in our region, BRVGS is working with our member divisions to review upcoming student field trips and activities for possible revision.

We are currently scheduled to take all of our 9th graders to Washington, D.C.  on March 19th, to visit national war memorials and the Holocaust Museum.  As of now, we are still planning on making that trip, but understand that some parents have concerns about the trip.

With that in mind, students may opt out of the trip without any academic repercussions.  Parents wishing to opt their child out of the BRVGS D.C. trip will need to inform their child's teacher prior to the trip, so that we can make adjustments as needed.

Other upcoming activities involve presentation events for 9th and 10th grades in later March and April, senior presentations at each school throughout March and April, our Senior Expos in late April, and an international trip to Iceland in June.  We will continue to assess each of these activities  in consultation with our member districts and in light of ongoing updates and public health guidelines regarding the Coronavirus situation, and will update parents, students and staff members on each activity as needed.  We will also post updates as needed on our website and social media accounts.

Please feel free to contact BRVGS Director Marc Carraway at mcarr1@brvgs.k12.va.us with any questions that you might have regarding any of our upcoming BRVGS events.  We wish all of our students and their families good health and a successful rest of the Spring semester.
