Information regarding Orientation was mailed to parents and students in May. Parents who are planning for their child to attend this session, but have not already registered with the BRVGS office, should do so. Lunch and transportation arrangements are being planned, and are contingent on numbers and locations of students participating.
To register, please contact Ms. Terry Levinson, administrative assistant, at tlevinson@brvgs.k12.va.us. Parents providing their own transportation for students need to sign them in and out at the registration table inside the Giuseppe Center.
BRVGS Parent Packet and World History Summer Work now available
The introductory “Parent Packet” for parents of incoming 9th grade BRVGS students is now available online at: http://tinyurl.com/BRVGS-parent-packet. Parents who requested paper copies of the packet will receive it in the mail within the week.
In addition, BRVGS World History summer work packets were handed out last week to those students who attended the June 25th New Student Orientation. Those packets will also be handed out to students who attend the July 15th New Student Orientation, and will be mailed to those parents who indicated that their child would not be able to make it to either Orientation session.
Parents of children who plan to attend July 15th, but who would like their child to receive their World History work packet sooner, should contact BRVGS Director Marc Carraway at mcarraway@brvgs.k12.va.us to order that packet.
Advanced Placement Computer Science to be Offered
BRVGS is pleased to offer an online course in Advanced Placement Computer Science for the 2015-16 school year. The course will be yearlong and will be taught asynchronously, meaning that students could take it at any time during the day, or as an additional after-school class.
Junior and Seniors in the BRVGS program will be eligible for the course, with a recommendation from a math, science, or computer science teacher.
Students have already been contacted directly via email. Interested students will need to pre-register for the course per instructions in that email. Please contact your local high school guidance office or BRVGS Director Marc Carraway at mcarr1@brvgs.k12.va.us for further information.
