Fall 2020 Student Created Semester Projects

BRVGS is proud to announce that even in the face of incredible challenges this year, our students in all grade levels have worked hard to learn new skills and content, and to apply those to big learning projects this semester. Learning content and procedure were brought into the next dimension as our students applied their personal learning this semester in ‘real-world’ challenge projects.

We are very proud of ninth grade World History students' collaboration in creating “Virtual Museums.” Teams of students were assigned to research technological achievements of specific ancient civilizations or historical periods, and then worked together to build Virtual Museum websites to present that information.  You can see links to those sites at: 2020 BRVGS World History Virtual Museum Project - Links to Group Sites

AP Biology tenth graders competed in a virtual “Funding our Future” team grant proposal, in which they created grant proposals in a variety of assigned topics in Biotechnology.  You can see those sites at: 2020 BRVGS AP Biology Funding Our Future Project - Links to Group Sites

Eleventh and twelfth grade online students finished an array of inspiring projects in our many online classes, including:

  • UVA Engineering researched & prototyped engineering solutions to everyday challenges

  • UVA Healthcare students presented proposals for recommended medical facilities.

  • Shenandoah University Healthcare Humanities students created training modules for healthcare professionals addressing the varying challenges healthcare workers are faced with.

  • PVCC Finite Math students completed a research paper and video showcasing their findings in a relative course topic in which they were personally interested. Yes - research in a math class!

  • BRVGS Computer Science students formed teams to identify a specific problem or issue and then created programming solutions to solve those issues.

  • AP Statistics students conducted sampling survey projects according to their personal interests while analyzing and interpreting real data.

Finally, our seniors continue to work on their senior capstone project, which will be presented this spring. Stay tuned for more info as those begin in March!
