Message from Mr. Carraway to Students about Courses and Projects

Dear BRVGS Students,

I hope that all of you are doing as well as possible in the face of all of the current uncertainty. I wanted to touch base because I know that a lot of you are concerned about your upcoming projects and presentations in your BRVGS classes, how you will get work done, and of course, about grades. I want to assure all of you, and particularly those in the middle of big BRVGS projects and those with upcoming final presentations, that we will not allow the current adverse conditions to hurt your BRVGS grades.

BRVGS is holding virtual meetings with all BRVGS teachers to work on expectations for BRVGS student work, assignments and grading, and to collaborate on planning for the upcoming weeks. We also understand that not all of our students have the same access to the internet, so we are working to create alternative learning activities as needed.

For now, you don't HAVE to do anything - but for those of you with access to your BRVGS email, we ask that you keep an eye on it regularly. For those without internet, we will be sending info via your parents' emails and phones.

We will be getting plans for each course/grade level out as soon as we can. In the meantime, please feel free to contact me by email or phone (434-989-3972) with any questions you might have, or for any support you might need.

Finally, I know that this is a scary time - but I have great faith in all of you to meet these challenges with the grace, optimism and perseverance that you often show us in your BRVGS classes. We in BRVGS wish good health and safety to you and your families.

Take care - Mr. Carraway

Marc Carraway - Director, Blue Ridge Virtual Governor's School www.brvgs.k12.va.us (434) 989-3972 (cell)
