Blue Ridge Governor’s School students are not only busy with BRVGS academics, but making headlines in their schools and communities as well.

Students participated in the 12th annual Charlottesville Business Innovation Council Tech Tour to learn about local technology opportunities.

BRVGS students were recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Program. Fluvanna County High School Senior Jonathan Corbin was named a 2016 National Merit Scholarship Semi-Finalist, and FCHS students Keegan Campanelli and Kayla Corredera-Wells were named Commended Students. Zachary Wright, a senior at William Monroe High School, was also recognized as a National Merit Scholarship-Commended student. The links below provide more details on these stories.

In addition to those noted above, Rebecca Alpern and Hannah Ward of Louisa were recognized as National Merit Scholars.

BRVGS Parent Survey for Strategic Planning

The Blue Ridge Virtual Governor’s School will be working this year on a new strategic plan for the school.  The plan will address future the overall mission of the BRVGS program, course offerings and learning activities for BRVGS students, guidelines for managing program growth and promotion of diversity in our student body.

As part of this effort, we are hoping to gather parent input through an online survey.  We also plan to have 3 to 5 parents participate with the BRVGS Strategic Planning Committee, which will meet in November, with 1 or 2 meetings later in the school year.

With that in mind, an email has been sent to all parent email addresses on file, with a link to the survey.  The survey can also be directly accessed by clicking on http://goo.gl/forms/oGquVsVFN5  Parents will have the opportunity to sign up for the Strategic Planning Committee upon completion of the survey as well.

Thanks to everyone who participates in this important part of our strategic planning process.  If you have any questions, please contact BRVGS Director Marc Carraway at mcarraway@brvgs.k12.va.us or by phone at 434-989-3972.
